Story

Start with the event and the decision it creates.

The story

09:05–09:20 — a learner tests the lesson's visible assumption

At 09:17, twelve minutes into Jordan Bell's 45-minute class, learner Amari Reyes notices that readings A09 through A12 came from logger L-4. Amari finds a source note associated with that logger describing a six-degree calibration correction and asks what would happen if the four readings used it. The note gives Amari a basis to test an assumption, not authority to correct the shared source.

At 09:05, Jordan had opened scenario lesson LESSON-27-R4. Its twelve synthetic asphalt observations average 31.0 degrees Celsius. Twelve planted-area observations average 27.0. The lesson's authored 3.0-degree threshold therefore yields a 4.0-degree difference, so the declared comparison gate is met.

Every learner can inspect all twenty-four values, the mean calculation, the threshold, and the bounded sentence. The answer is visible, but so is the path that produced it. Jordan retains classroom assessment and progression authority. Amari's private branch calculates:

A09–A12 correction = -6.0 C each
corrected asphalt sum = 372 - (4 × 6) = 348
corrected asphalt mean = 348 / 12 = 29.0 C
planted mean = 27.0 C
corrected difference = 2.0 C
comparison gate       = 2.0 >= 3.0 = false

The branch is labeled LEARNER-PROPOSAL-A17. It changes only Amari's private view. It selects modeled continuation NEXT-Q-B—what additional evidence would explain a difference below the threshold—instead of NEXT-Q-A, which assumes the sample exceeded the threshold. It does not change the shared lesson, prove the calibration premise, grade Amari, or unlock progression.

09:24 — the source owner confirms the correction

Data steward Dr. Mina Shah verifies the authored calibration record and publishes YARD-OBS-R12. It supersedes R11, preserves all twenty-four identities, and changes only A09 through A12 by negative 6.0 degrees.

The asphalt mean advances from 31.0 to 29.0, the difference from 4.0 to 2.0, and the gate from pass to fail. Amari's proposal and the steward's correction agree, but the source becomes current because Dr. Shah supplied authoritative evidence—not because a learner branch produced the same number.

09:25 — the model shows exactly what becomes stale

Grid identifies the affected set—the result-dependent artifacts that become stale: MEANS-R4, CHART-2-R4, LESSON-CLAIM-1-R4, slide 6, answer-key item 4, NEXT-Q-A as the current branch, Spanish handout paragraph 3, and the chart's alt text.

It leaves the comparison objective, source-reading prompt, and blank calculation worksheet current. Revision LESSON-27-R4 remains immutable and visibly superseded. A source correction updates a declared dependency cone, not an entire document by erasure.

09:27 — AI drafts but does not decide

AI draft DRAFT-AI-28 proposes a corrected sentence using 2.0 degrees, replacement alt text, a revised answer-key explanation, a Spanish paragraph, and NEXT-Q-B as the new continuation.

Every output remains attributed and proposed. The assistant cannot decide that the source correction is valid, the lesson objective still works, the translation is faithful, the accessibility equivalent is adequate, or Amari demonstrated mastery.

09:31 — one missing review lane blocks shared release

The science reviewer accepts the corrected statement, and the accessibility reviewer accepts the revised chart and alt text. The language-service feed is unavailable, leaving the Spanish paragraph bound to R11.

science_review       = pass
accessibility_review = pass
language_parity      = missing
build_parity         = fail
shared_release       = withheld

Jordan may continue for the remainder of the 45-minute class under the scenario district's approved classroom fallback. The shared release review proceeds on a separate clock after class. Grid cannot remove the language requirement, declare an accommodation, or publish a mixed-revision bundle.

10:04 — after class, one corrected lesson becomes reviewable

Language reviewer Sofia Mendes accepts the revised Spanish paragraph. The account does not say whether the unavailable feed recovered or the review arrived through another approved path; it establishes only that the missing review lane now has Sofia's disposition. A consistency check confirms that the recalculated mean, chart, English claim, slide, answer-key item, current next-question branch, Spanish paragraph, and chart alt text all bind YARD-OBS-R12 and calculation MEANS-R5.

The corrected claim is narrow: in this synthetic sample, the asphalt observations averaged 2.0 degrees warmer than the planted-area observations and did not meet the lesson's declared 3.0-degree threshold.

Curriculum director Renee Okafor authorizes exact bundle LESSON-27-R5-PACKET. The curriculum repository acknowledges request CURR-511. An acknowledgement is not evidence that every LMS or classroom received the successor.

10:18 — educator authority closes the classroom loop

Amari can now inspect the distinction the lesson was meant to preserve: the private branch anticipated the corrected arithmetic, but it did not change the shared lesson; Dr. Shah's authoritative source revision did. Jordan records that Amari found the source note, reproduced the arithmetic, and explained why a proposed assumption did not become shared evidence until the steward acted. Jordan—not Grid—decides the represented classroom progression state.

Later LMS report LMS-OBS-88 shows the corrected package active. Publication does not establish learning, instructional effectiveness, equity, accessibility, privacy compliance, or scientific validity, and no response silently trains or promotes a grading rule.

Why this setting is recognizable

The U.S. Department of Education's Using Evidence to Strengthen Education Investments describes an evidence-informed improvement cycle that includes identifying needs, implementing, examining, reflecting, and correcting inaccurate assumptions. The Institute of Education Sciences' What Works Clearinghouse Procedures and Standards Handbook, Version 5.0 maintains explicit procedures for reviewing and synthesizing education research. The Department's Privacy and Education Technology materials identify privacy questions and evaluation responsibilities raised by classroom technology and information sharing.

Those official sources ground only evidence-informed improvement, review standards, and deliberate privacy evaluation. They do not establish this lesson, threshold, pedagogy, learner assessment, curriculum decision, Grid composition, compliance, or outcome.

Where the model stops

Grid can represent revisioned sources, calculations, private assumptions, affected dependencies, derivative parity, attributable reviews, an exact release packet, and later publication evidence. It cannot validate science, determine curriculum meaning, certify accessibility or translation, grade a learner, decide mastery or progression, declare an accommodation, publish a lesson, or infer learning.

This page contains no real minor, student identifier, school, location, education record, grade, disability, accommodation, behavior, performance, credential, or production-system detail. Every actor and all twenty-four values are invented.

What remains to prove

Source revision 2026-08-27.1 has reviewed domain context, product boundaries, and a public-suitability finding, so this authored, synthetic page can be published at R2. The fixture itself remains authored.

The next proof is an exact deterministic implementation of the twenty-four observations, R11 and R12, the four six-degree corrections, the two means and differences, the private branch, two next questions, exact affected and unaffected cones, AI draft state, three review lanes, parity gate, curriculum authorization, repository acknowledgment, LMS report, and separate teacher assessment. It needs an independent oracle, negative cases, and retained execution and verification evidence. Intended-environment work would additionally require institution-owned pedagogy, privacy, accessibility, language, identity, records, repository, LMS, and assessment controls. None of that would make this Scenario curriculum advice or an automated grade.

Decision path

Follow the changed fact step by step.

A calculation, proposal, approval, execution report, and outcome are different events. The order keeps those boundaries visible.

  1. 01 · 09:05

The lesson begins with an inspectable claim

LESSON-27-R4 exposes all twenty-four synthetic values, a 31.0 versus 27.0 degree comparison, and the authored 3.0-degree threshold.

  2. 02 · 09:17–09:20

A private assumption changes the modeled continuation

Amari applies a six-degree correction to A09–A12, reducing the difference from 4.0 to 2.0 degrees and selecting NEXT-Q-B without changing the shared lesson or a grade.

  3. 03 · 09:24

The source owner confirms the correction

Dr. Shah publishes YARD-OBS-R12, preserving all identities while changing only A09–A12 and making the source—not the matching learner answer—authoritative.

  4. 04 · 09:25

The model traces an affected cone

The means, chart, claim, slide, answer key, next branch, Spanish paragraph, and alt text become stale while the objective and blank worksheet remain current.

  5. 05 · 09:27

AI drafts but does not decide

DRAFT-AI-28 proposes replacement language and derivatives without approving science, translation, accessibility, mastery, or curriculum meaning.

  6. 06 · 09:31

One missing review lane blocks shared release

Science and accessibility pass, but unavailable language review leaves one Spanish paragraph on R11, so mixed-revision bundle publication stays withheld.

  7. 07 · 10:04

    One corrected lesson becomes reviewable

Sofia accepts the R12 Spanish paragraph, parity passes across every derivative, Renee authorizes LESSON-27-R5-PACKET, and CURR-511 acknowledges only the release request.

  8. 08 · 10:18

Educator authority closes the classroom loop

Jordan evaluates Amari's reasoning and owns progression; LMS-OBS-88 later reports publication without becoming evidence of learning or an automatic grading rule.

One changed assumption, many accountable surfaces

The evidence can change the lesson without grading the learner.

A private branch, source correction, affected cone, AI drafts, three review lanes, curriculum release, and teacher assessment remain connected without collapsing into one automated decision.

  1. SourceFour readings change

YARD-OBS-R12 corrects A09–A12 by negative six degrees while preserving the prior revision and every stable identity.

  2. ModelFour degrees becomes two

The asphalt mean falls from 31.0 to 29.0 degrees, so the authored three-degree comparison gate no longer passes.

  3. DerivativesEight artifacts become stale

Only result-dependent lesson surfaces advance; the objective and blank worksheet remain current.

  4. Human authorityReview, release, and assessment stay separate

Reviewers accept their lanes, Renee authorizes one bundle, and Jordan alone owns the represented classroom assessment.

  5. External evidenceAcknowledgment is not publication

CURR-511 accepts a request; only LMS-OBS-88 later reports the corrected package active.

Every learner, source value, lesson artifact, and result is synthetic; this is an authored R2 Scenario, not an executed Grid fixture or grading system.

What is established

What is documented, what this scenario combines, and what still needs testing.

This separates documented capabilities from authored combinations in the scenario. Neither proves a complete deployment or outcome.

Documented

Documented building blocks

Capabilities described in maintained Grid documentation or another named source.

  • Reviewed product primitives document typed values, formulas, versioned relationships, reactive dependencies, provenance, history, governed artifacts, connectors, and audience-specific surfaces within their stated limits; they do not establish an education, curriculum, LMS, or assessment product.
  • Reviewed product primitives document dependency inspection, explanation, attributable workflow ingredients, and shared model surfaces within documented scope; they do not establish source validity, pedagogy, accessibility, translation quality, mastery, progression, privacy compliance, or publication.
Combined here

Combined in this scenario

Capability combinations represented in this scenario that still require end-to-end evaluation.

  • The authored Scenario composes a synthetic lesson schema, private learner branch, exact arithmetic, affected and unaffected cones, two next-question branches, lane-specific review, derivative parity, and separate teacher and curriculum decisions.
  • Lesson, answer-key, chart, slide, translation, alt-text, quiz-feedback, reviewer, repository, LMS, and teacher experiences would be built around the same exact source revision without centralizing their authority.
Needs testing

Not yet proved

Integration, operating, policy, or evidence work that is not complete.

  • No package-owned executable fixture, independent oracle, negative-case suite, retained execution and verification record, derivative-parity review, or intended-environment evaluation has yet established the authored behavior.
  • No qualified pedagogy, science, accessibility, translation, privacy, security, records, student identity, assessment, curriculum, repository, LMS, teacher, or target-environment integration exists, and no learning or operational outcome exists.

From model result to outcome evidence

A modeled answer does not perform the work.

Calculation, review, authorization, submission acknowledgment, execution reporting, and observed outcome produce different records and must remain independently inspectable.

  1. 01 · ModelEvaluate the declared facts, rules, dependencies, and constraints.

The result is model output, not an authorized decision.

  2. 02 · ProposalPrepare an exact candidate plan and explanation for review.

A proposal does not carry institutional authority.

  3. 03 · Human authorizationThe named responsible actor accepts, rejects, or changes the exact reviewed revision.

An interface action records the scenario step; authority still comes from the responsible institution.

  4. 04 · Submission acknowledgmentThe receiving system records that it accepted the exact instruction for processing.

Receipt establishes neither execution nor outcome.

  5. 05 · Execution reportThe responsible execution owner separately reports what action was performed.

Reported execution is not proof of the intended outcome.

  6. 06 · Outcome evidenceAuthoritative observation records what occurred and with what effect.

An outcome claim requires evidence beyond the model, submission record, and execution report.

Acknowledgment ≠ execution ≠ outcome. Each state requires its own responsible source and evidence record.
